Time for Videos!

While we may not be able to meet in person during this time of COVID19, there are still many ways we can keep up our interest in the history of World War II.

Dr. Schonberg, the Club's President has been in contact with the author Richard Breitman who  sent him the link to the taped C-span lecture Breitman gave at the FDR Library in October, 2019. Schonberg  encourages us to learn about a man most of us have never heard of before, and who in not such a small way, impacted on US policy and WWII. I attended this lecture and found it an eye opener about Raymond Geist, an American hero.

Since we are all practicing social distancing, we might be able to enjoy again some of the speaker videos that the New Jersey World War II Book Club has posted over the years.  One in particular was most memorable, that of Ursula Pawel, author and Holocaust survivor, as she toured the United
States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

March 20th- Mr. George Vallone: "Iwo Jima"
April 17th- Mr. Jim Lacey: "The Washington War" THIS LECTURE HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Instead, James Kimble will present: "Battlefield death, censored imagery, and home front morale in World War II."
May 15th- Peter Golden: "How the Holocaust was Used During the Cold War"
June19th- Dr. Richard Harrison: "Soviet  Plans for a Pre-emptive Attack, 1941"

Please note the May 15th meeting will be held at The Book House bookstore located at: 281 Essex St, Millburn, NJ 07041. All other meetings are at the Millburn Free Public Library at 7:00pm as usual. Details about lectures to follow.

The following schedule is for the Fall, 2019-Winter, 2019 part of the lecture year. All meetings are at the Millburn Free Public Library in Millburn, NJ at 7:00 pm, and are open to the public, though club membership and donations are encouraged so that we may continue to bring you great authors and speakers. The December meeting is at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, NJ and is concurrent with the Holiday Party; cost is $75.00 per person.

Due to a last minute re-assignment, Major Michael Kisser will be unable to present his lecture to the NJ WWII Book Club on Wednesday, May 9th. Therefore, the next meeting will be on June 20th.
